Information on Weather Maps for the Southern Plains states

(1) Plots of surface weather station reports, including:
• wind speed (in knots) and wind direction;
• cloud cover;
• temperature and dew-point temperature (both in degrees Fahrenheit);
• sea-level pressure (coded, in millibars); and
• current weather (represented symbolically, if included);

(2) Contours of dew-point temperature (at intervals of 5 degrees F); and

(3) Weather-radar echoes (showing precipitation intensities, color-coded).

• coastlines (gold lines);
• state and national boundaries (thick red lines); and
• interstate highways (thick green lines).

The time and date appearing on these maps is in Universal Time Coordinates (UTC), formerly known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). (See comments about time labels for more information.)
